Crypto.com said it will fund a $1 million bonus pool for selected fighters on the UFC Freedom 250 card, with payouts made in CRO, the native token of the Cronos blockchain ecosystem. Based on exchange rates recorded April 11, $1 million equaled approximately 14.6 million CRO.
The bonus pool is separate from UFC’s standard Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night awards, which UFC President and CEO Dana White distributes after each event. UFC has not yet released the criteria fighters must meet to qualify for the CRO payout.
White described the initiative as the largest bonus in UFC history, adding: “The world will be watching on June 14,” in a statement issued with the announcement.
Crypto.com Co-Founder and CEO Kris Marszalek said the promotion is tied to the company’s milestone. “I can think of no better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Crypto.com than by making history at the White House,” Marszalek said.
The partnership between UFC and Crypto.com dates to 2021, when Crypto.com became the organization’s first-ever Official Fight Kit Partner. The release described the Freedom 250 bonus pool as a new layer on that relationship.
CRO is the utility token used within the Cronos ecosystem, described as a decentralized, open-source blockchain protocol. Crypto.com has used CRO in rewards and incentive programs for its user base since the token’s introduction.
The main event at UFC Freedom 250 will feature UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria against interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. Topuria is ranked No. 2 in the organization’s pound-for-pound standings.
The co-main event has Alex Pereira, a former middleweight and light heavyweight champion, challenging Ciryl Gane, a former interim heavyweight champion, for the UFC heavyweight title. A Pereira victory would give him championships in three separate weight classes, a record not previously achieved by a UFC fighter.
The release said UFC Freedom 250 will be distributed exclusively by Paramount+ in the United States.
UFC, part of TKO Group Holdings, stages more than 40 live events per year and distributes programming to more than 950 million households across 210 countries and territories.
The digital asset exchange said the $1 million CRO pool adds a financial dimension to what UFC is billing as its most high-profile event, with fighter payouts tied to performance inside the cage rather than simply appearing on the card.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
