The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has what may be among the world’s oldest decentralized exchanges (DEX), operating continuously since the network’s inception in 2012. The exchange enables users to buy and sell tokens for XRP or other tokens, with minimal fees charged to the network itself.
According to Vet, the XRP-native DEX could be approaching a major turning point once it is “bootstrapped” with high-quality assets and deep liquidity. In a recent tweet, Vet said: “Once we bootstrap the XRP native DEX with high quality assets and deep liquidity, it’s game over.”
Vet pointed to the much-awaited XRP Lending Protocol as a key component of that bootstrapping effort. The protocol was introduced with XRPL version 3.1.0 and is currently in the voting process.
