On the afternoon of May 12, the Nghệ An provincial People’s Committee held a working meeting with a delegation from AEONMALL Vietnam Co., Ltd. and partners. At the meeting, the company presented its investment research plans in the province and a preliminary concept for the AeonMall Vinh complex.
After hearing the report, Nghệ An Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Võ Trọng Hải said he was pleased to welcome the investor and described the decision to choose Nghệ An as prudent, citing multiple strategic advantages.
He noted that Nghệ An has a large area and population, which can help support a leading market with strong purchasing power—second only to major cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. The Chairman also pointed to a high-quality workforce of about 1.6 million workers, with many gradually returning from major cities to work in their home province.
He further emphasized that the province’s transport system has seen a breakthrough, reducing connectivity barriers from earlier periods. Nghệ An’s integrated transport infrastructure includes Vinh Airport, the North–South Expressway, the Ho Chi Minh Highway, National Highway 1A, and a coastal road.
The Chairman said Nghệ An is ready to begin construction on key projects including the Quỳnh Lập LNG power plant and the Vinh–Thanh Thủy expressway on May 18.
Representing provincial leadership, the Chairman welcomed AEONMALL Vietnam’s investment intention and said the province will provide maximum facilitation. He directed relevant departments to accompany the company to survey and select the most suitable investment sites in Nghệ An.
At the meeting, Nojima Masaaki, Development and Construction Director of AEONMALL Vietnam, said he admired the pace of economic growth and consumer potential in Nghệ An. He described the province—given its large population and central location in the North-Central region—as a strategic area in AEONMALL Vietnam’s plan to expand its network in Vietnam.
Mr. Nojima stated that a modern shopping mall is expected to operate as a multi-service complex, creating substantial local employment, boosting domestic consumption, and serving as an attractive tourist destination aligned with the province’s development direction. He said the project is expected to integrate services ranging from shopping and dining to entertainment and community amenities, contributing to urban transformation and improving residents’ quality of life.
“We are currently operating large shopping centers in Vietnam. With that experience and the support of our partners, we hope to soon proceed with deeper studies to reach a concrete investment decision in Nghệ An,” Mr. Nojima affirmed.
With a vision to 2030, Nghệ An is expected to become a major highlight in economic development and a “destination of the future” for strategic investors.
