On April 2, 2026, Mr. Nguyễn Đình Việt, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of Sơn La Province People’s Committee, hosted a working visit by the Pacific Construction Group (China) to discuss cooperation ideas in several areas.
At the meeting, the Sơn La provincial chairman briefed the delegation on the province’s recent socio-economic development, highlighting investment attraction and current and upcoming projects seeking investors. He said he highly valued the Pacific Construction Group’s willingness to explore investment cooperation in Sơn La.
Sơn La is described as benefiting from a strategic position as a gateway connecting the Northwest region with major economic zones, supporting trade and investment. The province covers a large area with strong agricultural potential, particularly fruit crops spanning more than 85,000 hectares, which the province said provides a basis to attract investment in agro-processing and to increase added value.
The province also has abundant labor and favorable natural conditions for tourism development. Provincial leaders noted that many enterprises are showing interest in these areas, contributing to robust local tourism growth. In addition, Sơn La has significant potential for energy development, especially wind and solar power, and said it is creating favorable conditions for enterprises to invest in energy to gradually tap existing advantages.
Pacific Construction Group introduced notable projects in Vietnam, including the Tứ Liên Bridge, the Ngọc Hồi Bridge, and Hanoi Metro Line 5, as examples of its technical capacity and execution capability. The company, together with a Vingroup subsidiary, participated in the joint bid for the Tứ Liên Bridge in Hanoi, a project whose construction began on May 19, 2025.
The delegation also shared experience in infrastructure and tourism development in similar regions in China, including Yunnan and Guizhou, for Sơn La to consider.
The two sides discussed multiple potential cooperation areas, focusing on transport infrastructure and urban development, including upgrading and building urban areas. They also discussed developing an integrated infrastructure system in line with planning, as well as tourism, alongside exploring models of sustainable transport and infrastructure development.
Pacific Construction Group said it wants to learn more about Sơn La’s potential and advantages and investment-ready projects, particularly in transport infrastructure and logistics.
During the visit, Pacific Construction Group presented ideas and investment plans for the Sơn La–Mộc Châu expressway. The group also discussed experiences implementing expressway projects domestically and internationally.
The meeting further covered investment models including BT, BOT, and PPP, along with concrete implementation plans. The stated goal is to promote infrastructure development and strengthen Sơn La’s role as a key transportation hub in the region.
Sơn La’s leadership and the delegation discussed investment-attraction mechanisms and incentives, emphasizing policies related to transport infrastructure development.
With an area of 14,109 square kilometers, Sơn La is described as the largest province in the Northern midland and mountainous region.
