On 3 April, in Champasak, Da Nang city, in cooperation with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse and Champasak authorities, organized the 'Investment, Trade and Tourism Cooperation Forum to Promote Connectivity along the East-West Economic Corridor in 2026'. The forum drew nearly 400 delegates from ministries and 12 Vietnamese localities; leaders from five southern-central Lao provinces—Attapeu, Sekong, Salavan, Champasak and Savannakhet—and Ubon Ratchathani province of Thailand. This forum is part of Da Nang's ongoing effort to increase connectivity and attract investment and tourist flows from Laos, while strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries. The event focused on two main topics: 'Opening the door to the Nam - Central Lao market' and 'Promoting cross-border cooperation'. A highlight was the signing of more than 20 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between Da Nang, Vietnamese localities and Lao partners for 2026–2030. The Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse and Champasak also organized the Vietnam-Lao Trade and Tourism Fair 2026 from 3–5 April, with about 60–70 booths showcasing products including OCOP, ODOP, nationally branded goods, garments, electronics, farm equipment, wood and handicrafts, and consumer goods and services. This event not only covered economic cooperation but also extended into culture. A performance program by the Da Nang Traditional Theatre showcased traditional folk arts, helping to disseminate the cultural identity of Quang Nam - Da Nang to Lao participants. In parallel, Da Nang's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism joined the 2026 Trade and Tourism Fair at Champasak. The Da Nang delegation’s high-level visit to Laos, led by Party Secretary Le Ngoc Quang, attended the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding with Champasak, marking a milestone in deepening friendship and broadening substantive cooperation between the two localities. To promote economic linkage, the Party Secretary proposed establishing the Da Nang-Champasak Business Association and increasing forums and trade and tourism fairs to connect enterprises from both sides. In tourism, the two localities agreed to study a Da Nang–Sekong–Champasak tourism route serving domestic and international markets, and considered opening a direct Pakse–Da Nang flight, hoping to spur growth in economy, trade and tourism.
