Domestic gold prices rose again, with major brands listing SJC gold bars at 169.7 million VND per tael for buy and 172.7 million VND per tael for sell, up 1.2 million VND per tael from the previous close.
As of 9:00 a.m., world gold prices were around 4,764 USD per ounce, about 60 USD higher than the previous session. Using Vietcombank’s USD exchange rate, this translated to roughly 151.3 million VND per tael.
The increase was reflected across jewelry gold offerings as well. Phú Quý quoted ring gold at 169.5 million to 172.5 million VND per tael (buy/sell), up 1.5 million VND per tael from April 9. Bảo Tín Minh Châu listed ring gold at 169.7-172.7 million VND per tael (buy/sell), up 1.2 million VND per tael from the previous close.
The bid-ask spread generally remained around 3 million VND per tael. Meanwhile, the SJC domestic price stayed about 21.4 million VND per tael above world gold.
The State Bank of Vietnam set the central exchange rate at 25,103 dong per USD. Commercial banks quoted roughly 26,100-26,360 dong per USD for buying and selling.
Overall, the morning update pointed to higher global prices and a corresponding uptick in the domestic gold market.
