After more than a year of construction, TBM 2 'Táo Bạo' has completed the tunnel drive and reached the underground S12 Hà Nội station, marking the completion of the tunnel boring work across stations S9 Kim Mã, S10 Cát Linh, S11 Văn Miếu and S12 Hà Nội. TBM 2 began its journey from S9 (Kim Mã) on 03 February 2025, passing S10 on 15 September 2025 and S11 – Văn Miếu on 13 January 2026. On 13 April 2026 TBM 2 finished the tunneling work. Earlier, TBM 1 named 'Thần Tốc' completed bore of tunnel tube 1 on 01 December 2025. The TBMs (Táo Bạo and Thần Tốc) were designed for Hanoi Metro Line 3 (Nhổn - Ga Hà Nội), manufactured by Germany's Herrenknecht, about 100 meters long and weighing around 850 tons. The project totals 12.5 km of mainline, with 8.5 km elevated and about 4 km underground, carrying a total investment of 34,826 billion VND, funded by ODA from four lenders and city funds. The underground section includes 4 km of tunnels, 4 underground stations, and an emergency shaft, currently under parallel construction; CP03 for tunnels and underground stations is about 77% complete. After tunneling, interior works, slope stabilization, underground stations, transitions, parking areas, and roadworks around Thủ Lệ lake will continue. This is Hanoi's first underground metro project, a key transportation infrastructure and core to the city's sustainable urban development strategy, though the project faces challenges and schedule adjustments toward an opening by December 2027.
