Gold prices are hovering around 151.3 million VND per tael, while the central exchange rate has declined slightly. International gold prices fell sharply, widening the gap by more than 13 million VND per tael.
At 9:10 a.m., SJC gold bars quoted by Saigon Jewelry Company, Doji, and Phu Quy stood at 148.8 million VND per tael for buy and 151.3 million VND per tael for sell, unchanged from the prior close. Phu Quy also quoted gold bars at 148.5-151.3 million VND per tael (buy-sell), unchanged. Bao Tin Minh Chau quoted 148.8-151.3 million VND per tael for gold bars, unchanged.
The spread between buy and sell prices narrowed to about 2.2-2.5 million VND per tael.
On the international market, gold traded around 4,320 USD per ounce, down 20 USD from the previous session. If converted using Vietcombank's USD rate, world gold price equates to roughly 137.6 million VND per tael.
Thus, the spread between domestic SJC gold price and world price widened to about 13.7 million VND per tael.
For the foreign exchange market, the State Bank of Vietnam posted the central rate at 25,173 VND/USD, down 2 from the previous session. Following this, rates at commercial banks were also adjusted lower: Vietcombank at 26,081-26,431 VND/USD (buy-sell); VietinBank 26,111-26,431; BIDV 26,111-26,431; Eximbank 26,110-26,431 (buy-sell).
