Ho Chi Minh City Police are seeking victims of Mr. Tran Tan Hoang and are urging anyone affected to contact investigators to provide information. On April 5, the Ho Chi Minh City Police announced they are investigating a case of “fraudulent appropriation of assets” involving the Joint Stock Auction Company VAMC, which has since been renamed Trung Tin and is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City.
Earlier, at the beginning of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Police indicted the accused and ordered his detention, identifying him as Tran Tuan Hoang (born 1982), for the above offense.
According to records, from May 2019, Tran Tan Hoang established the Joint Stock Auction Company VAMC. The company later changed its name several times, including Tiến Phong, Hoàng Phát, and Trung Tin. Nguyen Trung Tin (born 1990) was hired as director and legal representative, and to oversee auction sessions.
From early 2020 to early 2022, Hoang allegedly made false statements that the VAMC assets were to be sold under orders from an enforcement agency. Based on those claims, victims deposited 52.2 billion VND to purchase auctioned assets. However, Hoang allegedly failed to fulfill the commitments and embezzled the funds for personal use.
During the investigation, several individuals also submitted complaints that Tran Tan Hoang received deposits from customers who contacted to participate in auctions.
Ho Chi Minh City Police said they are consolidating documents and evidence and expanding the investigation to address the acts of other related individuals, while working to quickly recover the misappropriated assets in the case.
The Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigative Agency asks anyone who is a victim of Tran Tan Hoang to promptly contact Investigator Do Duy Khoa, Team 5 – Economic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, to report. Victims who have not yet filed a complaint are asked to send a letter to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigative Agency at 14-16 Doan Nhu Hai, Xom Chieu Ward, Ho Chi Minh City so the matter can be handled in accordance with the law and their rights can be protected.
