Based on analysis of data from the iSpectra frequency monitoring system, over two days—March 30, 2026, and April 2, 2026—the Region V Frequency Center (under the Radio Frequency Bureau) coordinated with Hung Yen Province’s Department of Science and Technology and local authorities to measure, inspect, and address three portable signal booster devices operating illegally, which caused harmful interference to multiple mobile base stations in Hung Yen.
On-site checks determined that all three booster devices were self-purchased, installed, and used by households to boost in-building coverage. Authorities noted that all devices were purchased via the Shopee e-commerce platform.
The devices were unlicensed and did not meet technical standards. According to the monitoring and inspection results, they emitted signals outside permitted specifications, degraded service quality, caused dropped calls, reduced data speeds, and directly affected the operation of numerous mobile base stations in the area.
The Region V Frequency Center has drafted administrative violation records, issued penalties to the violators, and ordered the dismantling and destruction of all unlawful boosters in accordance with the law.
Authorities advise residents not to buy, install, or use booster devices. They said using radio equipment illegally not only violates the law but also poses risks to information security and social order.
