The Tran Hung Dao Bridge project is one of Hanoi’s key transport works being implemented in 2025, part of a group of Red River crossing projects aimed at completing the capital’s backbone infrastructure network. The project includes two component subprojects, with total investment of nearly 16 trillion VND. The full route spans about 4.18 km, starting at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao, Tran Thanh Tong, and Le Thanh Tong in Cua Nam Ward, Hai Ba Trung, and ending at Nguyen Son Street, passing through Long Bien and Bo De wards.
At the construction site in early April, activity is intense, with multiple sections progressing simultaneously. The contractor is deploying 10 work fronts, including 6 focused on the main piers and 4 handling the approaches toward Long Bien.
This phase prioritizes foundation work, particularly bored piles in the central-pier area in the Red River. The low-water season is providing more favorable conditions for construction than other times of the year. In some locations, the concrete foundation has been completed, and teams are moving on to constructing pier trunks. In the Long Bien and Bo De areas, bored-pile work is being carried out in parallel.
Contractors are taking advantage of favorable weather to speed up progress. Many work fronts are operating concurrently, covering activities from drilling and excavation to steel reinforcement installation and concrete pouring. In Bo De Ward, construction is ongoing with workers arranged in shifts from early morning to late evening to maintain the schedule.
The Tran Hung Dao Bridge project began on October 9, 2025. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2027. Once finished, the bridge is expected to reduce traffic load in Hanoi’s central area and create an additional connection between the two riverbanks of the Red River. Beyond transportation, the project is also intended to serve as a landmark in Hanoi’s architectural and urban landscape.
