Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee Phan Phong Phu has conducted an on-site inspection and working session with relevant agencies to review the progress of transport projects in the southern area of the province. The area is identified as playing a key role in regional connectivity, urban development, and the development of a dynamic economic zone.
At the meeting, the delegation examined, heard reports, and provided guidance on several key projects, including:
According to the report from the Provincial Project Management Board for Construction Investment, transport projects in the southern area are being implemented in a coordinated manner by investors and contractors. Many components have made positive progress, with some works completed and put into operation, contributing to the gradual improvement of the region’s transport infrastructure system.
Large-scale projects with regional connectivity are being accelerated. These works are designed to connect dynamic areas, main traffic corridors with residential areas and urban centers, thereby enhancing transport capacity and the flow of goods.
The gradual improvement of the transport network is expected to shorten travel times and reduce logistics costs. It is also intended to create favorable conditions to attract investment and expand production and business activities, which the province views as a key driver for socio-economic growth in the period ahead.
Despite the achievements, the project implementation process still faces challenges and obstacles. The main issues are concentrated in:
Some locations continue to have local land clearance bottlenecks that directly affect construction progress and disbursement of funds. The province described this as a common situation across many infrastructure projects, requiring decisive, coordinated action from all levels of government and local authorities.
In response, investors and construction units are working closely with local authorities to remove difficulties. Site clearance is being accelerated, related procedures are being reviewed and improved, and manpower and equipment are being increased with flexible construction organization to ensure progress and quality.
The province’s leadership asked the Provincial Project Management Board to review the full scope of works, update progress, and develop specific plans for each project. Stronger coordination with relevant units and localities is also required to unify land handover timelines and closely manage progress throughout implementation.
Investors and related units were further asked to proactively adjust implementation plans, assign clear responsibilities, and build a disbursement schedule aligned with project progress. Inspection and supervision are also expected to be strengthened to ensure milestones are met as planned.
