YouTube has announced price increases for all YouTube Premium plans in the United States, starting with the June billing cycle. Individual users will be charged $16 per month, up from the previous rate, while the Family plan rises from $23 to $27 per month.
In addition to the standard Premium tiers, YouTube is also increasing the Lite and Music Premium packages by $1 each, bringing them to $9 and $12 per month, respectively.
The company’s latest adjustment follows a broader pattern of price changes across major online subscription services, including recent increases reported for platforms such as Spotify and Netflix. The move is also described as the latest YouTube Premium price increase since 2023.
YouTube Premium includes an ad-free experience, access to YouTube Music, offline downloads, and background playback. Under the Family plan, up to six accounts can share benefits, but the higher monthly cost may lead some users to reassess their subscription spending.

The launch is framed as a step to compete with Anthropic, which already offers a $100 package for Claude Code. OpenAI is also developing a broader AI ecosystem described as a super app combining ChatGPT, Codex, and the Atlas browser.
