On April 20, the Da Nang City People’s Committee held a working session with THACO Group (Trường Hải) to discuss investment directions for Sâm Ngọc Linh and medicinal herbs.
THACO leadership presented a strategy to develop a large-scale Sâm Ngọc Linh cultivation area combined with medicinal herbs using high-tech applications. The group plans to implement the project titled “Concentrated production and cultivation of Sâm Ngọc Linh through an industrial approach that combines forestry planting (production forest) and medicinal herbs under forest canopy” in the communes of Trà Linh and Trà Tập, with a total area of 4,600 hectares.
The project will be led by THACO Agriculture (THGC) as the investor, with implementation planned for 2026–2031.
The plan targets Sâm Ngọc Linh cultivation in areas at elevations of 1,000–1,500 meters, organized around industrial production and combined with medicinal herbs and forestry trees. THACO also proposed researching, applying, and transferring technology for greenhouse-based cultivation, including seedling production using nutrient substrates, as well as cultivation, care, and harvesting techniques.
THACO’s stated objective is to sustainably develop the Sâm Ngọc Linh raw material region, increase economic value, and establish a closed value chain from production to processing to consumption, contributing to local economic and social development.
At the meeting, THACO urged Da Nang to consider zoning Sâm Ngọc Linh and medicinal herb production areas as proposed and to accelerate procedures to advance the projects promptly.
