United Overseas Bank (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. (UOB Vietnam) has announced the appointment of Mr. Pham Hong Hai as Deputy General Director, effective June 15, 2026.
In his new role, Mr. Hai will report directly to the CEO of UOB Vietnam. The bank said he will help drive sustainable growth, implement strategic priorities, and continue strengthening governance and risk management.
Mr. Pham Hong Hai brings more than 30 years of experience in banking and financial services, having held senior leadership positions at both domestic and international financial institutions. Most recently, he served as CEO of Orient Commercial Bank (OCB), where he consolidated the bank’s operations, propelled business growth, and led the bank’s transformation.
Before that, he spent 28 years at HSBC, including serving as CEO of HSBC Vietnam. He also held multiple senior leadership roles within the Global Banking and Markets division in Vietnam and Canada. The bank noted that his career contributions included driving business growth, improving customer segment effectiveness, and building high-performance teams.
Mr. Pham Hong Hai earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. He also holds the Financial Services Management Certificate from the Financial Services Institute, United Kingdom.
UOB Vietnam CEO Mr. Victor Ngo said: “Vietnam is a key market in UOB's ASEAN strategy and continues to offer positive growth opportunities. The appointment demonstrates our commitment to strengthening the leadership team as we expand our presence in the market.”
UOB Vietnam added that, with broad experience and deep industry knowledge, Mr. Hai will play a key role in implementing strategic priorities, supporting customers on their growth journey, and contributing to the development and regional connectivity of Vietnam.
