UOB Vietnam has announced the appointment of Mr. Pham Hong Hai as Deputy General Director, effective June 15. In this role, Mr. Hai will report directly to the CEO of UOB Vietnam.
UOB Vietnam said Mr. Hai’s appointment is intended to support the bank in driving sustainable growth, implementing strategic priorities, and continuing to strengthen governance and risk management.
Mr. Hai has more than 30 years of experience in banking and financial services, including leadership roles at domestic and international financial institutions. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB).
Before that, he spent 28 years at HSBC, holding senior positions including CEO of HSBC Vietnam, and leading Global Banking and Markets units in Vietnam and Canada.
Mr. Hai earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. He also holds a Financial Services Management Certificate from the UK Chartered Institute of Financial Services.
Victor Ng, CEO of UOB Vietnam, said Vietnam is a key market in UOB’s ASEAN strategy and continues to offer positive growth opportunities. He added that the appointment reflects the bank’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team as it expands its footprint in the market.
Mr. Ng said Mr. Hai’s experience and industry knowledge will help implement strategic priorities, support clients on their growth journey, and contribute to Vietnam’s development and regional connectivity.
