Bac Ninh led localities in export turnover in September, reaching 12.7 billion USD, ahead of Phu Tho at 12.1 billion USD and Ho Chi Minh City at about 9.04 billion USD, according to preliminary data from the General Department of Customs.
The province’s sustained lead is driven by manufacturing and processing activities, particularly in electronics, telecommunications equipment, and semiconductors, supported by a large network of foreign direct investment enterprises.
In September, Bac Ninh topped the country in export turnover with 12.7 billion USD, while Phu Tho and Ho Chi Minh City recorded 12.1 billion USD and about 9.04 billion USD respectively. In the first nine months, Bac Ninh exported 88.2 billion USD; Ho Chi Minh City 75.7 billion USD; Phu Tho 50.9 billion USD.
During nine months, Bac Ninh’s main export markets included South Korea, the United States, China, Hong Kong (China), and Japan. The export mix was concentrated in high-tech industrial products. Phones and components accounted for about 55.5 billion USD; computers, electronic products and components for 26.5 billion USD. The electronics components manufacturing sector constitutes a large share of the province's industrial structure, with output rising more than 1.9 times year-on-year.
National level in September, total import-export turnover of goods reached 117.6 billion USD; exports amounted to about 59.5 billion USD and imports to 58.2 billion USD, leaving a trade surplus of about 1.27 billion USD for the month.
In nine months, total import-export turnover reached 888 billion USD, up 30.4% year-on-year. Exports rose 24.5%, while imports increased faster at 36.7%. The country posted a trade deficit of 19.4 billion USD, unlike the same period last year which recorded a surplus.
The United States remained Vietnam’s largest export market for nine months, at about 140 billion USD. China ranked second among export markets, with nearly 65.9 billion USD. On the import side, China was the largest market at 187.3 billion USD.
The processing and manufacturing sector continues to account for the largest share of the country’s export turnover. In particular, computers and electronic products and components reached 123.6 billion USD; machinery, equipment and parts 55.01 billion USD; phones and components 51.7 billion USD. These three groups together account for more than half of the country’s total export turnover.
On the import side, most goods were inputs for production, including machinery, equipment, raw materials, and fuels.
Bac Ninh is rising to the national lead in export turnover, underscoring the province’s concentration of high-tech manufacturing and large-scale foreign-invested enterprises.
Analysts note that the province’s export performance is anchored in electronics and high-tech sectors, supported by a substantial base of multinational companies and FDIs. The strong electronics components manufacturing activity helps explain Bac Ninh’s prominent role in the national export landscape.
