Domestic gold prices eased this morning, with declines of 1.1–1.3 million dong per tael. SJC-branded gold was quoted at 163.4 million dong per tael for buying and 166.4 million dong per tael for selling.
At 9:10am, SJC gold bars were quoted at 163.4 million dong per tael (buy) and 166.4 million dong per tael (sell), down 1.1 million dong from last Friday’s close.
In the bullion segment, Bao Tin Minh Chau traded around 163.4–166.4 million dong per tael, down 1.1 million dong from last Friday’s close dated 8/5. Phu Quy quoted 163–166 million dong per tael, down 1.3 million dong from the previous close.
The buy-sell spread remained at 3 million dong per tael, as gold traders maintained the current pricing gap.
In the international market, gold was around 4,684 USD/ounce. Using Vietcombank’s USD rate, this corresponds to about 150.8 million dong per tael. As a result, the domestic SJC price still traded about 15.6 million dong above the world price.
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s central exchange rate rose by 6 dong. The State Bank of Vietnam set the central rate at 25,118 dong/USD, up 6 dong from the previous close (May 8).
Commercial banks also adjusted rates. Vietcombank quoted 26,093–26,373 dong/USD (buy-sell), VietinBank 26,123–26,373, BIDV 26,123–26,373, and Eximbank 26,100–26,373 (buy-sell).
