On February 3, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, in coordination with relevant departments, agencies and localities, held the technical opening to traffic for Thong Nhat Bridge, while also breaking ground for the Cai River waterfront road in the central area of Dong Nai province and opening technical works for the Long Khanh Ring Road 1 project.
The Thong Nhat Bridge project is a key component of the central axis project in Bien Hoa, connecting Vo Thi Sau Street to Dang Van Tron Street. The Dong Nai Project Management Board is the investor.
The central axis road project has a total length of about 5.5 km and comprises two branches:
Within the project, Thong Nhat Bridge is 564 m long and 31 m wide.
The project has an estimated total investment of about 1,506 billion VND, funded by public investment, and is implemented from 2020 to 2026.
At the same time, the province began construction of the Cai River waterfront road. Provincial leaders said the project is expected to form a new transport axis, reduce congestion, and enhance the urban landscape while making effective use of space on both riverbanks of the Dong Nai River.
In addition, the Long Khanh Ring Road 1 project was opened for technical readiness. The route is over 4 km long with a road surface width of 45 m, and includes a rail overpass, drainage systems, lighting and greenery. The total investment is about 1,300 billion VND, funded from the provincial budget.
Upon completion, the route is expected to reduce inner-city traffic and complete the belt road system, creating space for the expansion of the Long Khanh urban area.
Dong Nai leaders said Thong Nhat Bridge and the central axis road are strategic transport works that will gradually improve Bien Hoa’s urban transport network. They noted the projects are expected to boost socio-economic development, expand urban space and improve residents’ living standards.
They also highlighted that the technical opening fulfills the long-standing aspiration of residents of Tran Bien ward and the wider province, while helping ease traffic pressures in the inner city and strengthening inter-regional and inter-urban connections within Dong Nai’s central urban area.
In particular, Thong Nhat Bridge is described as playing a key role in connecting the Hiệp Hòa urban area, covering about 294 ha, one of the key urban development spaces in Bien Hoa in the coming period.
According to provincial leaders, the simultaneous opening and groundbreaking of these major transport works reflects Dong Nai’s commitment to investing in infrastructure, expanding urban space and laying the groundwork for sustained economic and social growth in the coming period.
