Galaxy Digital and Sharplink announced the signing of a non-binding memorandum of understanding to launch the Galaxy Sharplink Onchain Yield Fund, LP, a private investment vehicle intended to deploy capital in decentralized finance (DeFi) liquidity protocols and other onchain yield strategies. Galaxy will oversee the fund’s investments.
The fund will receive total commitments of $125 million, including $100 million from Sharplink’s staked Ethereum treasury and $25 million contributed by Galaxy. The structure is designed to enable Sharplink to preserve its core exposure to Ethereum while deploying its balance sheet capital more actively.
Protocol selection, exposure sizing, and ongoing monitoring will be governed by Galaxy’s institutional research and risk management framework, consistent with the discipline the firm applies across its lending, trading, and asset management businesses.
Galaxy said it has been deploying hundreds of millions of dollars onchain since 2020 and ranks among the most active public companies in strategies of this kind. The fund launch is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
