Nelnet Business Services, a division of Nelnet, Inc. (NYSE: NNI), announced it has acquired Australia-based Invision Digital Pty Ltd, the owner of the Passtab, Resitab, and Entrytab brands. Passtab, a school visitor, contractor, and compliance management platform, along with the additional brands, will operate within Nelnet International, expanding the company’s global education technology offerings.
Nelnet said the acquisition strengthens Nelnet International’s ability to support school communities with solutions designed to enhance safety, streamline front-office operations, and address increasingly complex compliance requirements.
Passtab is used by thousands of schools across Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The company described the platform as configurable and cloud-based, focused on visitor management and emergency readiness.
David Heffernan, managing director of Nelnet International, said the Passtab brand is respected in the education sector and that the team’s experience will be an asset as Passtab becomes part of the broader Nelnet International portfolio.
Heffernan added that the acquisition aligns with Nelnet’s long-term investment strategy and its commitment to investing in education technology that adds value to the core platforms used by customers globally.
Laura Hunt, general manager for Passtab, said joining Nelnet International is a “natural evolution” for Passtab, citing Nelnet International’s commitment to a best-in-class Student Information System (SIS) ecosystem. Hunt said the broader infrastructure will help Passtab mature and scale its services.
Wendy Demarte, Nelnet International director, said what stood out to Nelnet International about Passtab was not only the strength of the products, but also the people behind them, describing the team as capable and deeply committed with an understanding of K-12 schools.
Demarte said the acquisition creates opportunities for schools globally, enabling Nelnet International to better support safer, more efficient, and more confident day-to-day operations for school communities.
