Typhoon No. 1 (Maysak) did not cause any loss of life in Quảng Ninh, with the storm’s impacts confined to a narrow area mainly in Mong Cái and the Co To special administrative zone.
The typhoon brought heavy rain and high tides to Quảng Ninh, contributing to flooding and wind-related damage in several localities.
Authorities and residents are mobilizing to repair the damage and mitigate the after-effects of the storm, including heavy rainfall. In Mong Cái Ward 1, the People’s Committee, with police, military, border guards and local neighborhood committees, relocated eight households (21 residents) to safe places after flooding. At sea in the Núi Đỏ mooring area (Đền Ngọc Sơn), four boats were unanchored and drifted toward the breakwater; one sailor was rescued to shore, and the remaining four boats were towed toward Cảng Vạn Ninh to ensure the safety of people and vessels. In Quảng Hà Commune, authorities mobilized 95 officers and soldiers for an overnight response to clear fallen trees, repair roofs, clear debris and drainage, address landslide risks at the seven-gate area, and continue inspection of mooring areas, assist fishermen to reinforce moorings, and help residents recover housing and sanitation to restart daily life.
In Quảng Đức commune, leaders directed disaster relief work in the area. After surveying risk areas, the province relocated 79 households (227 people) to safe places. Following the storm, authorities planned 24/7 standby, monitored rainfall progression and reviewed landslide risks, especially for households at the foot of embankments, hillside, or talus. Officials also maintained patrols and warning signs in flooded or landslide-prone areas and advised people not to fish or swim in rivers during heavy rain. Localities continued dredging and clearing drainage systems, patrolling dikes and key infrastructure to detect and promptly address issues and minimize residual rainfall damages. Transportation was fully restored by the morning of July 5, and residents’ lives began to stabilize.
Initial statistics from the Quảng Ninh Provincial People’s Committee indicate the following across the province:
Additional localized data include approximately 600 hectares of aquaculture ponds flooded in Hai Hòa 1, Hai Hòa 2 and Hai Hòa 6.
As of 12:00 on July 5, Typhoon No. 1 did not cause any loss of life. Recovery efforts included relocating affected households and restoring services, with transportation fully restored by the morning of July 5. Authorities urged continued vigilance due to residual rainfall and maintained standby and monitoring activities in at-risk areas.
Local authorities continue to monitor weather conditions and risk areas, maintain standby forces and warning signs, and strengthen communications to fishermen not to go to sea, not to fish, and not to swim in rivers during heavy rain. Evacuation plans remain in place if necessary, and efforts to dredge and clear drainage systems, patrol dikes, and protect key infrastructure will continue to minimize damages from residual rainfall.
