Over 1,000 investors competed to crown the Legend Board champion—the top NAV category for investors with NAV above 1 billion VND—and Pham Thanh Hung achieved an investment return of 32.38%.
The Legendary Stock Market 2026, organized by Shinhan Vietnam Securities, attracted more than 1,000 participants in the competition for the top NAV category, defined as investors with net asset value above 1 billion VND. The winner received the symbolic key to VinFast VF3, recognizing performance achieved over more than three months of participation.
Hung is a self-employed entrepreneur rather than a professional from the finance sector. He attributes his success to knowledge, saying luck can play a part but only after investing in oneself. “If you want to succeed in a challenging field like stock investing, you must learn every day, sharpen your thinking, and deepen your understanding. When you are sufficiently prepared, luck will smile.”
He views stock investing as investing in a business, not simply selecting a ticker. “Stock investing is essentially investing in a business, not just three letters on a board. Before deciding to buy, I always spend a lot of time researching the business. When I understand enough and have enough confidence, I invest.”
During the season, he monitored the leaderboard but kept a long-term view. “I do monitor the leaderboard, but not too frequently. My portfolio is built with a relatively long-term view, so short-term market fluctuations do not affect my mindset much.”
Hung emphasizes that the prize represents more than a trophy. He views the VinFast VF3 reward as a culmination of more than three months of effort, and the real value lies in validating his investment methodology in a competitive, real-world setting where every decision affects portfolio performance.
He also notes Shinhan’s environment as a factor in success: 0% trading fees, competitive margin rates, and a smooth trading platform that is easy to use even for those with limited technology experience.
