Sun Group has proposed intensifying cooperation with Korean companies across retail, hospitality, entertainment, capital, and digital commerce, inviting participation in key destinations including Phú Quốc.
Chairman Dang Minh Trường made the proposal at a round-table on April 23, held as part of a high-level meeting between the government and the Vietnam–Korea business community.
Mr. Trường said cooperation between businesses in Vietnam and Korea should move beyond investment relationships toward a long-term strategic partnership. He noted that Phú Quốc, which is aiming to become an international hub for tourism and services, will be a focal point for implementing these models and creating opportunities for Korean brands and retail operators.
Sun Group subsequently proposed expanding cooperation in retail and travel retail, including a plan to develop a network of shopping centers, outlets, and duty-free shops at these destinations.
The company also highlighted hotels and serviced apartments. Sun Group is developing a multi-segment hospitality ecosystem nationwide, with a particular focus on Phú Quốc, which will host the APEC 2027 Summit. The group said it is inviting Korean enterprises to explore opportunities to participate.
Sun Group expressed interest in partnering with Korean associates in developing the cultural industry, including content production, creation of entertainment products, and theme parks.
In addition, Sun Group leadership said it hopes to cooperate with Korea on strategic investment and long-term capital connectivity, as well as next-generation digital commerce. The company said these areas can leverage complementary strengths of the two economies, with Korea having an edge in technology and operations, while Vietnam has room to grow its market and tourism.
