From 2025, the tax authority will introduce an automated personal income tax (PIT) refund system designed to significantly shorten processing times. In eligible cases, refunds can be processed in as little as 3 working days, but not all applications will meet that timeline if required conditions are not satisfied.
The tax agency says the new system will automatically receive, check, and process electronic PIT refund applications. For cases that qualify, the processing period can be as short as 3 working days, compared with weeks or months under the previous approach.
To receive a refund quickly, taxpayers’ data must be clean and synchronized with the tax authority’s records. The agency highlights the following requirements:
The tax authority recommends taxpayers review information before submitting to reduce the likelihood of delays. Items to check include personal information, tax code, dependents, total income, taxes withheld, and family deductions. The agency also advises cross-checking with population data and ensuring there are no outstanding tax debts from prior years.
The current refund process is conducted entirely online. Taxpayers can log in to the online tax system or the eTax Mobile app to view an automatically generated pre-filled return. If the information is correct, the taxpayer can confirm and submit. If errors are found, they must be corrected and supplemented before submission.
