Vietcombank, BIDV, Agribank, and VietinBank have paused the automatic 'split-lien' approach for transfers of 500 million VND or more, causing such large sums to no longer pass through the 24/7 real-time transfer channel as before. Banks advise that if you need to move funds immediately, you can split the amount into multiple transfers under 500 million each to continue using the 24/7 real-time service, provided the total per day remains within the allowed limit. The change is being implemented in line with Circular 40/2024/TT-NHNN. Banks such as VPBank, Eximbank, TPBank have issued notices stopping the 'automatic split' feature, and many others are adjusting how they handle large-value transfers in the same direction. In reality, the Napas real-time transfer system applies only to transfers under 500 million per transaction. The previous automatic splitting was a technical solution added by some banks to help customers; when this solution is halted, transfers of 500 million and above must use the standard processing stream, potentially delaying money delivery. The change also may involve additional risk management checks for large-value transfers under Circular 27/2025/TT-NHNN; the State Bank says these adjustments are to strengthen payment safety and combat fraud and money laundering. To transfer money immediately, banks recommend splitting into multiple transfers under 500 million and performing them during morning business hours to minimize processing delays, and avoiding evening hours or holidays if funds are needed urgently.
