Vietnam Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV) has elected Mr. Le Ngoc Lam, the bank’s chief executive officer, to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the 2022–2027 term. Mr. Lam will replace Mr. Phan Duc Tu, who is scheduled to retire on July 1.
Mr. Lam, born in 1975, has nearly 30 years of experience at BIDV and has held various positions at the bank’s head office. He has led risk management and the corporate client segment, and has served as Deputy CEO since 2015. Prior to taking the chair, he had more than five years as BIDV’s CEO.
Alongside the chairman election, BIDV appointed Mr. Hoang Viet Hung as CEO for five years from July 1. Mr. Hung, born in 1972, has worked at BIDV since 1996 and previously held leadership roles at the Nghệ An branch. He also served as Director of the HR and Organization Department and has been Deputy CEO since March 2020.
BIDV also appointed two new Deputy CEOs: Mr. Le Huy Hoang and Vu Hoang Duong.
Last year, BIDV reported a record profit of over VND 36,000 billion. Total assets exceeded VND 3.25 quadrillion, representing a 20% increase from 2024. BIDV remains the largest bank in Vietnam by asset size.
