The Ca Ná LNG Power Plant project will comprise a single LNG-fueled gas turbine power plant operating in a combined-cycle configuration, with a capacity of 1,500 MW and an expected annual output of about 9 billion kWh to the national grid. On 10 April 2026, the Khánh Hòa Provincial People’s Committee and the Trung Nam – Sideros River joint venture signed the business-investment contract for the Ca Ná LNG Power Plant project and the credit agreement for Phase 1 of the Ca Ná Port complex, covering the Ca Ná General Port, to establish rights and obligations between state authorities and the investment consortium as the project moves into implementation.
The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long, Khánh Hòa provincial leaders, officials from relevant departments and agencies, and representatives of the Trung Nam – Sideros River joint venture and other domestic and foreign companies.
The event aimed to implement directions in Decision 500/QĐ-TTg approving the national power development plan for 2021–2030 with a vision to 2050, and Decision 768/QĐ-TTg dated 15 April 2025 on adjustments to the planning. The LNG project also reflects the outcome of an international-bid tender under Power Plan 8, aligning with policy objectives to develop energy supply and infrastructure, ensure energy security, and support growth under the Politburo’s Resolution 70-NQ/TW.
The project includes:
The total land and water area is about 139.76 ha, including 28.06 ha of land and 111.70 ha of water. The total estimated investment cost is 57,385 billion VND. The project timeline targets completing construction and bringing the project online by 2030.
Mr. Nguyen Tam Thinh, Chairman of Trung Nam Group, said that implementing the Ca Ná LNG project will enable an expanded energy value chain, improve competitiveness, and gradually establish a LNG port hub for central and southern Vietnam, leveraging deep-water port advantages and stable geology.
At the ceremony, Mr. Trịnh Minh Hoàng, Vice-Chairman of Khánh Hòa Province, emphasized that the project is not only a large-scale energy initiative but also a platform for industrial, services, and infrastructure development in the province, intended to help shape a leading industrial hub, a complete energy value chain, and a Renewable Energy Service Center—supporting Vietnam’s global renewable energy competitiveness.
Through an industrial complex comprising the Ca Ná Industrial Park, the LNG Power Plant, and the Ca Ná International Port, Trung Nam positions itself as a large private-sector economic group with international competitiveness and aligns with national goals for private-sector development and deeper domestic participation in the global value chain. The project is expected to contribute significantly to Khánh Hòa’s development and to position energy and industry as growth pillars for the province in the next phase.
