A representative of Bao Tin Manh Hai said that early gold payouts to customers were part of the company’s plan prior to the Lunar New Year. In the past two days, images of hundreds of people queuing at Bao Tin Manh Hai stores in Hanoi have drawn public attention. Most of those queuing carried appointment slips to collect early gold after receiving notification messages from the company. Ms. H. of Ha Dong, Hanoi, said on March 19 she bought two taels of gold from Bao Tin Manh Hai and was scheduled to collect on March 29. However, on March 25 she unexpectedly received a message to collect gold early and went with the slips to wait. “What I did was take the opportunity to collect the gold. I queued at 17:30 on March 26; behind me there were hundreds of people waiting. After waiting for a little over an hour I finally received the gold.” The early payout beyond the scheduled date has prompted questions from some customers. A company representative told Pháp luật TP.HCM that the buying and delivery of gold are proceeding normally, with the uptick in customers in recent days driven mainly by psychological factors. The representative added that being called to collect gold earlier than the appointment is not unusual; this has been part of a plan since before the Lunar New Year, when the firm proactively increased production from February. According to Pháp luật TP.HCM, at the Tran Nhân Tông branch, customers buying the round-ring product still receive a 40-day collection slip, while customers buying the Tứ quý Thịnh Vượng product will be served immediately with one item per customer. On the morning of March 27, prices for ring gold at Bao Tin Hai, DOJI, Phú Quý, Bao Tin Minh Châu were quoted at 16,760,000–17,060,000 VND per chỉ (buying - selling). Meanwhile, the SJC
gold price was quoted at 167,000,000–170,600,000 VND per lượng (buying - selling).
