Domestic gold prices remained flat, trading around 167.5 million VND per tael, while international prices rose by 19 USD per ounce. Nevertheless, the premium of domestic gold over the world price remains wide. Opening this morning's session on May 8, the domestic precious metals market showed no movement, while the central exchange rate eased slightly. At 9:20 a.m., the SJC bullion price at Saigon Jewelry Joint Stock Company, Phu Quy Jewelry, and Doji Group was quoted at 164.5 million VND per tael for buying and 167.5 million VND per tael for selling, unchanged from May 7 close. In the bullion segment, Bao Tin Minh Chau traded around 164.5-167.5 million VND per tael. Phu Quy quoted prices from 164.3 to 167.3 million VND per tael (buy-sell). This morning, the gap between buy and sell remained at 3 million VND per tael to hedge against price fluctuations. On the international market, the precious metal was trading around 4,725 USD per ounce, up 19 USD per ounce from the previous session. Converted at Vietcombank's USD rate, this corresponds to about 150.2 million VND per tael. Thus, the SJC domestic price remains about 17.5 million VND per tael higher than the world price. Regarding the
