The Dong Nai provincial Land Development Center, Bien Hoa Branch, has issued Notice No. 1059/TN-TTTPQĐ-CNBH outlining the policy for land reclamation to support compensation and resettlement for the project extending the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro to the provincial Administrative Center and Long Thanh Airport.
According to the center, the project will span a total length of 44.6 km, passing through wards and communes including Tran Bien, Bien Hoa, Long Hung, Phuoc Tan, Tam Phuoc, An Phuoc, Nhon Trach, and Long Thanh.
The total land area required is over 192 hectares (excluding TOD sites).
In April 2026, the Bien Hoa Branch of the Land Development Center will coordinate with relevant units and the People’s Committees of Tran Bien, Bien Hoa, Long Hung, and Phuoc Tan, Tam Phuoc to conduct on-site surveys. The work will collect data on land, housing, structures, trees, schools, religious facilities, and enterprises such as companies and factories to serve as a basis for estimating compensation, support, and resettlement values.
The metro extension alignment begins at the S0 station in Tan Van, crosses the Dong Nai River, and runs along National Highway 1, connecting to the SC station of the new Administrative Center.
From there, the metro will continue along the Bien Hoa – Long Thanh rail corridor, follow DT771, cross the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway, and connect to the SA station, reaching the rail corridor serving Long Thanh Airport.
Technically, the project is an MRT urban rail system.
The preliminary total investment is about 60.261 trillion dong, including compensation and resettlement costs of around 4.323 trillion dong. The planned implementation period is 2025–2029.
The Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee said demand for connecting Tan Son Nhat Airport with Long Thanh Airport is essential to ensure coordinated operation of the two airports. Once operational, Long Thanh Airport is expected to handle part of passenger and cargo traffic currently served by Tan Son Nhat.
According to the province, early studies and implementation of other transport projects—such as the metro, high-speed rail, and cross-regional bridges—are necessary to meet connectivity needs and reduce travel times, including shortening the distance from Tan Son Nhat to Long Thanh.
The People’s Council of the province has approved that the provincial government is the competent authority to implement the project under a PPP-based investment model, extending the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro to the provincial Administrative Center and Long Thanh Airport across Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.
