After only three months of construction, the 1C aircraft apron of the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project has officially become operational, setting a rare progress milestone in the aviation industry and giving a boost to the infrastructure chain serving APEC 2027. In addition to the 1C apron, several other key components at Phu Quoc Airport are accelerating daily. Runway 2 has completed 95% of the concrete base and 31% of the concrete surface. According to the plan, by June 30, Runway 2 will pass technical acceptance, after which calibration flights for navigation aids, lighting signals, and flight safety systems will be conducted. If standards are met, the facility will be put into service from August 2026, doubling the airport’s capacity to handle flights. The Terminal 2 passenger hall has reached 87% of the structural work and is entering the stage of steel roof installation. Notably, the VIP terminal’s structural work is 100% complete, with the steel roof framing around 70%. The Phu Quoc airport expansion project has total investment of 22,000 billion dong, with an 18-month implementation timeline, to serve APEC 2027. On the Nam Island Phu Quoc mega site, thousands of workers and hundreds of equipment are maintaining around-the-clock construction.
