Continuing to attract a broad range of new customers with electrified and internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrains, Kia America delivered 72,703 units in April, representing a 3% year-over-year variance. The company attributed the change to elevated demand in April 2025. Kia also set a new year-to-date total sales record, selling 279,718 vehicles through the first four months of the year, up 2% versus the same period in 2025.
Performance in April was led by the all-new Telluride, which achieved its highest April sales total in the model’s history, up 16% compared with the previous April record set in 2025. Other models with notable April gains included Sportage Hybrid (+112%), Sorento Hybrid (+34%), and K4 (+1%), each reaching best-ever April sales.
Electrified models posted significant increases, led by EV9 (+481%) and EV6 (+11%). Hybrid sales rose 97%, while total electrified sales increased 71%. Both categories set new April records.
Six Kia models set new April year-to-date sales records, including Sportage HEV (+117%) and Sportage ICE (+5%); Telluride (+19%); Carnival (+16%); Sorento HEV (+7%); and K4 (+1%). Kia also reported that its hybrid lineup (+81%) and electrified lineup (+41%) set new year-to-date sales records.
“Achieving record sales milestones amid challenging market conditions highlights the company’s ability to align with customers evolving preferences for SUVs and hybrid vehicles,” said Eric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America. “The 2027 Telluride continues to exceed expectations, in part due to the arrival of its first available hybrid powertrain, and when coupled with the recent introductions of the Seltos and EV3 models at the New York Auto Show, we are confident that Kia's total market share will continue to grow.”
Headquartered in Irvine, California, Kia America reports that it continues to top automotive quality surveys. Kia is recognized as one of TIME World’s Most Sustainable Companies of 2025. The company serves as the “Official Automotive Partner” of the NBA and WNBA and sells gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles through a network of nearly 800 dealers in the U.S., including several SUVs assembled in America.
