According to Government Office Announcement No. 204/TB-VPCP dated 21/4/2026, the conclusions of Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Văn Phạm Giả Tuc at the meeting reviewing progress of the Long Thành International Airport project, phase 1, are as follows. The Long Thành airport project is a national key project with special significance, drawing attention and high expectations from the Party leadership, the State, ministries, and domestic and international partners. Throughout implementation, challenges and obstacles have been addressed with attention and timely consideration by leaders at various levels. The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged that the project has largely met key milestones as required and successfully conducted the first technical flight on 19/12/2025 as planned. However, the task of completing and placing the project into operation in 2026, in line with directives from the Standing Government on 26/2/2026 and the Prime Minister’s site inspection on 29/3/2026, remains very challenging due to remaining workload, unresolved payment issues, shrinking favorable construction weather, insufficient on-site labor, and rising fuel and material costs. The objective of completing and bringing the project into commercial operation in 2026 is a mandatory target. Accordingly, involved parties should maintain responsibility, stay highly focused, and intensify efforts; ministries, sectors, and localities must act within their authority to address arising issues, strengthen close coordination to promptly resolve difficulties, and accelerate progress, including by: directing agencies to speed up investigations and resolve violations; enabling ACV to make payments for compliant work; establishing a task force to guide payment-related issues; completing payment guidance before 22/4/2026; reinforcing ACV’s organization; reviewing project packages for progress, manpower, equipment, and materials; negotiating solutions with contractors to remove payment obstacles; prioritizing packages that affect schedule; accelerating land clearance; ensuring fuel and material supply; and coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure synchronous completion of connected works so the airport is operable commercially by late 2026. ACV is to coordinate with the Government and project owners to accelerate construction, while ongoing monitoring and regular reporting on progress, challenges, and solutions continues. The Dong Nai province authorities are tasked with ensuring fuel and material supplies and accelerating land clearance for transportation connectivity projects, so that all components connect when the Long Thành International Airport becomes commercially operative by the end of 2026.
