Purepoint Uranium Group Inc (TSX-V: PTU, OTCQX: PTUUF, FRA: P5X0) CEO Chris Frostad discussed the company’s latest uranium exploration progress at its Dorado project in northern Saskatchewan, as well as the broader process used to make and advance a discovery.
Frostad said Purepoint operates in one of the world’s most prolific uranium regions and works with major partners including Cameco, Orano and ISOEnergy. He noted that the company’s most recent work has focused on Dorado, a joint venture with ISOEnergy.
Frostad said the company’s recent discovery is located within the Nova zone, where initial drilling intersected high-grade uranium mineralization.
He explained that most exploration drilling in northern Saskatchewan does not find uranium. When results are meaningful and can be tied to a broader geological system, they are treated as discoveries and require follow-up work.
Frostad said the key task after an initial find is determining whether the result is repeatable. Instead of drilling randomly, the company expands around the initial hole—above, below and laterally—to better understand the mineralization.
Frostad emphasized that technology is critical because uranium is “invisible to geophysics.” As a result, the company relies on indirect indicators such as rock types and structures. Once drilling begins, it integrates drilling data with geophysics to understand what controls mineralization.
He said modelling is used to build an understanding of direction and controls, which then supports step-outs—sometimes hundreds of metres—to test whether mineralization continues and to refine targeting.
Applying the approach to Dorado, Frostad said the company drilled four holes at the Nova zone and identified a direction of continuity. He added that Purepoint is now following up with additional drilling, including step-outs, to further understand the system and plan the next phase.
