Ripple unlocked another 1 billion XRP tokens this morning from its XRP escrow account. According to Whale Alert, the release totaled 1 billion XRP—worth more than $1.377 billion—executed in three tranches: 200 million, 300 million, and 500 million XRP unlocked step by step from the San Francisco-based company’s escrow accounts.
Whale Alert reported that the 1 billion XRP unlock occurred in three separate stages, with 200 million, 300 million, and 500 million XRP released sequentially from Ripple’s escrow accounts.
XRPL Services said Ripple currently holds around 32.91 billion XRP. That figure represents approximately 32% of XRP’s total supply and, at current prices, is equivalent to more than $45.3 billion.
The article notes that escrow unlocking is intended to boost liquidity, manage market conditions, and support the gradual release of XRP from Ripple’s wallets.
At the time of the release, XRP showed almost no immediate reaction, rising about 0.9% from the day’s opening.
More notable were February’s results, which have just closed. XRP ended the month down 16.45%, after reaching a low point where the decline peaked at 33%. Despite the sharp drop, the token later recovered by 22% from that period.
XRP continues to trade near the key $1.4 level, though it has not reached it.
