SJC bullion prices eased back from last weekend in today’s morning session (April 20). The standard selling price was kept at 171.3 million VND per tael after two to three adjustments.
At market open, the morning buy price for SJC bullion was 167.3 million VND per tael, while the selling price was 170.8 million VND per tael, down 1.2 million VND per tael on both sides versus the prior reference.
Within less than 15 minutes of opening, the brand increased by 1 million VND per tael on the buy side and 500,000 VND per tael on the sell side, bringing quotes to 168.3 million – 171.3 million VND per tael.
By the close of the morning session, the price range remained unchanged at 168.3 million – 171.3 million VND per tael. Compared with the close on April 18, the buy price was down 200,000 VND per tael and the sell price down 700,000 VND per tael.
During the morning of April 20, the gap between buy and sell prices for SJC bullion continued to narrow. The spread across popular brands was around 3 million VND per tael, down 500,000 VND per tael after four sessions at a high level.
At Mi Hồng, the spread was only 1.7 million VND per tael.
The quoted morning close price of 168.3 million – 171.3 million VND per tael (buy – sell) was also listed at DOJI, PNJ, Bảo Tín Minh Châu, Bảo Tín Mạnh Hải and Phú Quý, down 200,000 VND per tael on the buy side and 700,000 VND per tael on the sell side.
In Ho Chi Minh City, SJC bullion prices recorded a larger drop than at northern units, with selling prices below the general level. After one decline and two increases in the morning session, SJC bullion at Mi Hồng stood at 171 million VND per tael on the sell side, with the buy price quoted at 169.3 million VND per tael.
Compared with the close on April 18, both buy and sell prices at Mi Hồng fell by 1 million VND per tael each.
At the close of the morning, Ngọc Thầm held the selling price at 171 million VND per tael and the buy price at 168 million VND per tael, down 1.5 million VND per tael and 1 million VND per tael respectively versus April 18.
World market: As of 11:00 on April 20, the spot price of gold fell nearly 0.9% from the previous session to 4,790.6 USD per ounce.
Domestic gold price movements continued to diverge from world prices. According to Vietcombank’s exchange rate (including taxes and fees), the gap between the domestic bullion price and the world gold price stood at about 17.51 million VND per tael.
For the “4-number 9” gold rings, the spread ranged from 7.21 million to 17.51 million VND per tael, depending on brand.
