South Korea’s ambassador to Vietnam, Choi Youngsam, said Korea has strengths in the areas Hanoi is prioritizing for strong development. Speaking at a meeting with Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Vu Dai Thang on the afternoon of April 1, the ambassador noted that the Korea–Vietnam relationship has been steadily strengthened, creating a foundation for expanded cooperation in the period ahead.
The ambassador highlighted that 2026 will mark the 30th anniversary of close friendship between Hanoi and Seoul, described as a flagship model of local-level cooperation. He also pointed to the 20th anniversary of the Korea Culture Center in Vietnam, and expressed hope that Hanoi will continue supporting the organization of meaningful activities.
In the context of Hanoi’s orientation toward green and sustainable development, Ambassador Choi Youngsam emphasized Korea’s experience and advantages in technology related to clean energy, green transformation, and digital transformation. He said Korean enterprises are ready to work closely with the capital to help implement these goals.
The ambassador urged Hanoi to continue removing obstacles and accelerate the progress of investment projects by Korean enterprises in sectors including commerce, services, high-tech, and biology that are currently underway in the city.
From Hanoi’s side, Chairman Vu Dai Thang said cooperation between Hanoi and Korean partners will continue to expand and be effective across many fields, based on the strong relationship between the two countries. He added that the city is committed to providing the most favorable conditions for Korean enterprises, investors, and individuals to operate stably and long-term in Hanoi.
Hanoi leaders also said they would direct relevant agencies to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for enterprises, citing the contributions of Korean projects in the city.
Hanoi’s master plan with a 100-year horizon defines development in a multi-polar, multi-centered model. The plan is linked to expanding public transport, urban redevelopment toward a civilized and modern direction, and building smart high-tech zones.
Accordingly, Hanoi leaders said this will be a major opportunity to promote cooperation with Korean enterprises in areas such as urban development, rail, construction, and infrastructure. They also expressed the hope that the ambassador will continue serving as a bridge to help bring cooperation potential into practical implementation soon.
