Techcombank warns recipients of messages bearing the bank's name that are designed to manipulate psychology in a highly sophisticated fraud scheme. According to Techcombank's official page, criminals are widely disseminating emails and SMS messages that impersonate the bank's brand. The content is crafted to target customers' psychological vulnerabilities. They often claim that the account is being charged, that credit card interest is high, or warn that the value of your loyalty points is about to expire. In contrast to these threats, many messages use a 'sweet' approach, informing customers that they have just won a prize or earned valuable rewards. The common thread across all these scenarios is that they always end with a suspicious link urging immediate action to process refunds, cancel cards, or extend loyalty points. Once the victim feels anxious or greedy and clicks the fake link, they are led to a site that copies Techcombank's official interface. Here, the scam system will request highly sensitive information including cardholder name, card number, expiry date, CVV on the back of the card, and especially the OTP code sent to the phone. Techcombank asserts that the bank never accepts or processes refund requests, changes to points via email, unfamiliar websites, or messaging apps such as Zalo, Viber, Messenger. If followed, customers risk exposing full account information to criminals who could drain funds, and their mobile device could be infected with malware, potentially allowing the attacker to take control of the device remotely. In response to cybercrime tactics, the bank emphasizes the 'three noes' principle: do not click on unfamiliar links, do not enter OTP, and do not provide account information to anyone, even if the person claims to be a police officer or a Techcombank employee calling. All balance checks or points checks should only be done on Techcombank's official mobile banking app, Techcombank Business app, or the company's official website. If you need assistance, call the official hotlines 1800.588.822 for personal customers and 1800.6556 for business customers. In the worst case, if you suspect you have provided information on unfamiliar websites, stay calm, immediately access the official banking app to lock the card, and contact the call center or visit the nearest Techcombank branch for timely risk containment.
