Thousands of workers, engineers and staff from Deo Ca Group continued working on site during the April 30–May 1 holidays, aiming to complete key components on schedule. Activity remains intense on the Đồng Đăng–Trà Lĩnh and Hữu Nghị–Chi Lăng expressways as contractors take advantage of favorable weather to accelerate progress.
The Đồng Đăng–Trà Lĩnh expressway project is deploying 93 construction fronts for bridges, tunnels and roads, supported by nearly 900 machines and equipment and more than 2,000 personnel. Some sections are being developed to widen the roadbed to 22 meters in line with the Phase 2 scope.
The 121 km Đồng Đăng–Trà Lĩnh route connects Lạng Sơn and Cao Bằng provinces and is implemented in two phases with total investment of about 26,000 billion VND. Phase 1 covers 93.35 km and includes 64 overbridges crossing the Kỳ Cùng and Bằng Giang rivers, among other waterways and provincial routes. Phase 2 builds on the already invested 93.35 km of Phase 1 and adds 27.71 km of new expressway, including 17 bridges and 3 mountain tunnels, reaching the Trà Lĩnh border gate in Cao Bằng.
A technical opening is planned for May 19 for the 62 km section from the Đồng Đăng border gate to Đông Khê commune. The project is using four asphalt paving lines to lay the road surface. As of the latest update, the value of completed works is 8,726.34 billion VND out of a 14,628.76 billion VND contract (about 74%).
At Km26 (Việt Hùng, Lạng Sơn), base-layer paving is progressing with synchronized paving and compaction equipment. Teams are coordinating to ensure both quality and schedule. A worker, Vũ Văn Luyện, said a 12-person crew is making the most of dry weather to boost output during the final sprint.
At Km27, a bridge that previously faced flood-related setbacks has been reworked and is now largely completed, supporting overall connectivity.
Phase 1 includes two mountain tunnels—Đồng Khe and Thất Khe. Work inside and outside these tunnels is reported as substantially complete.
Under the plan, the 62 km technical segment is targeted to open by May 19, while remaining segments will follow on the existing roadbed, except for two local bottlenecks affected by floods in 2025. Deputy General Director of the Phase 1 project, Mr. Nguyễn Đức Tuấn, said contractors will focus on resolving bottlenecks and completing surface roads, guardrails, median barriers and road markings within Km52+00 to Km61+700 (from Cao Bằng province to IC04).
The Hữu Nghị–Chi Lăng expressway is taking shape as a modern 60 km corridor with 38 bridges. A key element is the bridge cluster spanning over 1 km at Km41+450–Km41+825–Km42+825 through Nhân Lý, Lạng Sơn, running parallel to the existing railway and requiring high technical standards and close construction coordination. After 24 months, the bridge deck is essentially complete.
Overall, the project has mobilized about 2,600 workers, 1,200 equipment units and 131 construction fronts. On other sections, components are moving into finishing stages, including Km43 where crews are laying polymer surface and installing wave-guard rails, and Km44 where medians, road markings and safety systems are being completed.
Deputy Director of the Hữu Nghị–Chi Lăng Project Management Office, Mr. Trần Văn Chuân, said contractors have mobilized 2,600 workers, 1,200 equipment units and 131 fronts. Current work value is reported at 5,587.71/7,949.82 billion VND (about 70.29% of the contract).
By May 19, the project aims to complete the 27 km segment from the north end of the Bắc Giang–Lạng Sơn expressway to IC03, connecting with National Highway 4B on the outskirts of Lạng Sơn city.
Construction is also being accelerated on the Ho Chi Minh City–Trung Lương–Mỹ Thuận expansion project. The Ho Chi Minh City–Trung Lương section is being upgraded to 10–12 lanes, while the Trung Lương–Mỹ Thuận section will be widened to 6 lanes with an emergency lane.
For the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thành expansion project, the contractor consortium has mobilized nearly 800 workers and more than 120 pieces of equipment, organizing 22 construction fronts along the route. Work is focusing on key items such as the new Long Thành bridge deck and related girder assembly. Progress is reported at about 50%, on schedule.
The project is designated a flagship priority, requiring strict pace and quality. Contractors have maintained continuous construction through holidays and days off to advance essential items ahead of the rainy season.
Across multiple projects, firms also conduct on-site visits, provide encouragement to workers, arrange meal breaks and ensure suitable rest facilities. The support is intended to keep workers on site with confidence and help thousands of workers stay focused on major milestones across the projects.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
