Two companies signed a cooperation agreement on June 17 to deploy a network of charging stations and battery-swap cabinets for electric motorcycles in Hanoi, with the system designed to serve VinFast users.
Under the agreement, V-Green Global Charging Station Development JSC and Hanoi Electric Power Corporation (EVN Hanoi) will jointly develop, install, and operate the battery-swap cabinet system across 126 wards and communes in Hanoi.
V-Green will use approximately 16,000 EVN Hanoi electrical sites to install between 7,000 and 10,000 battery-swap cabinets for VinFast users. The companies will also pilot battery-swap cabinet installations at transformer substations, electrical cabinets, and utility poles in suitable locations across Hanoi.
EVN Hanoi will provide power and sign direct electricity-purchase agreements for the charging stations and battery-swap cabinets. It will also handle related design, supervision, construction, and maintenance services.
V-Green will fund the battery-swap cabinets and related components, which will meet technical and safety standards.
EVN Hanoi General Director Nguyen Anh Tuan said the collaboration with V-Green reflects social responsibility and EVN Hanoi’s efforts to build green transport infrastructure in Hanoi. He said EVN Hanoi will commit to providing a stable, safe power supply and the consulting, construction, and maintenance services for the V-Green network.
V-Green Deputy General Director Nguyen Duc Vinh said the cooperation with EVN Hanoi is a milestone for the company’s strategy to expand charging infrastructure and support the green transformation of transportation. He noted that with up to 10,000 battery-swap cabinets, VinFast electric motorcycle users in Hanoi would have easier access to energy, contributing to lower emissions and a cleaner environment.
V-Green said it has continued partnerships with Vietnam Post, VNPT, PV Oil, MediaMart, The Gioi Di Dong, and FPT Shop to expand the nationwide charging and battery-swap network. The company’s plan is to complete deployment of 60,000 battery-swap cabinets nationwide by the second quarter of this year.
