Vietjet and SPDB Financial Leasing (SPDBFL), representing Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, have signed a finance lease agreement to fund 10 Comac C909 aircraft, expanding Vietnam–China financial and aviation cooperation. The event took place at the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Phan Van Giang, together with senior leaders and representatives of leading enterprises from both nations, during the state visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to China at the invitation of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping. With the aim of becoming a multinational aviation group, Vietjet continues to expand its international network and invest in a modern fleet. Alongside Vietjet, SPDB is one of China’s leading banking and financial institutions with strong financial capacity and experience financing large-scale projects. Through SPDBFL, the bank plays a key role in aircraft leasing and arranging financing, supporting airlines to optimize capital and implement long-term development strategies. The two sides agreed to an operating lease arrangement, with deeper scale and collaboration, for up to 10 Comac C909 aircraft. This move is expected to optimize Vietjet’s fleet utilization, diversify funding sources and enhance access to international capital markets. The agreement also lays a foundation for Vietjet to gradually introduce Comac aircraft on Vietnam–China routes, thereby expanding regional networks and promoting bilateral air connectivity. This cooperation also strengthens the regional and global aviation value chain.
