WalletConnect Pay has added PayPal USD (PYUSD) as a payment method across its entire merchant network, enabling users to spend the stablecoin directly from self-custodial wallets—including MetaMask, Trust and Ledger—without intermediate steps, bridges or additional tools.
The integration is designed to let merchants accept PYUSD while WalletConnect Pay handles balance verifications, routing, compliance checks and settlement. The aim is for merchants to receive funds without needing to modify their existing systems.
PYUSD is a regulated stablecoin backed 1:1 with US dollars and issued by Paxos Trust Company, a fiduciary entity supervised by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). WalletConnect Pay is positioned as a payments solution built on the world’s largest wallet network. The network already works with companies including Coinbase, Stripe, Shopify, BitPay and MoonPay.
