On April 29, 2026, FPT Corporation announced that the Government of Japan has awarded the Order of the Rising Sun to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Board of FPT, in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of Vietnam–Japan relations.
Under Mr. Truong Gia Binh’s leadership, FPT was a pioneer in exporting software to Japan twenty years ago, helping Vietnamese software firms access and grow in this market and gradually building a bridge between the business communities of the two countries.
FPT now employs more than 5,000 people directly at 18 offices and research centers in Japan, along with more than 18,000 global experts dedicated to the Japanese market, providing technology services and solutions to more than 450 clients.
FPT and Mr. Truong Gia Binh actively participate in cooperation mechanisms and business-connect initiatives between the two countries, including economic forums, business associations, and Vietnam–Japan cooperation initiatives.
These efforts are described as contributing to stronger ties among the business community and promoting collaboration in strategic technology areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors.
The company said these contributions provide a basis for the Government of Japan to award the Order of the Rising Sun to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, recognizing his role in promoting technology cooperation, developing digital talent, and strengthening economic connectivity between the two nations.
In 2013, he was awarded the Nikkei Asia Prize by Nikkei Asia (Japan) for his important contributions to the development of Vietnam’s IT sector.
