Mozilla has released Firefox 150 and patched 271 security vulnerabilities identified through Anthropic’s Mythos Preview AI tool. The release comes amid ongoing debate over how new AI models may affect cybersecurity, with Mozilla pointing to the scale of the findings as evidence of AI’s role in accelerating vulnerability discovery.
Mozilla said Firefox 150 includes fixes for 271 vulnerabilities. A key factor behind the large number of flaws, according to Mozilla, was early access to Anthropic’s Mythos Preview AI model. Firefox CTO Bobby Holley said AI tools are changing how weaknesses in software defenses are identified, enabling automated techniques that can uncover vulnerabilities more quickly than traditional approaches.
Holley described AI capabilities as creating a “training ground” that software must effectively go through to detect and fix latent vulnerabilities in large codebases before they reach users. He also noted that Mozilla’s collaboration with Anthropic—while not formally part of Anthropic’s Project Glasswing alliance—helped provide an early advantage.
Holley said the broader challenge for the technology industry is not only detection, but remediation. He reported that leadership at very large companies is pulling thousands of engineers from other projects to focus on patching vulnerabilities that AI detects. For smaller projects, he said access to AI-driven bug-finding tools may not be sufficient; the main constraint is having enough human resources to address the volume of issues AI uncovers.
Holley concluded that the open-source issue is ultimately a human one, adding that the industry needs to “unite together.” He said the Firefox team is currently collaborating with other open-source maintainers to share knowledge and tools to manage the transition.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
