Even though rankings have not changed, the gap between Shopee and TikTok Shop has narrowed significantly. A 2025 Southeast Asia e-commerce market report by Momentum Works shows Shopee remains the region's leader with a 53% market share, corresponding GMV of $83.2 billion, up sharply from $66.8 billion in 2024. Meanwhile, TikTok Shop recorded breakout growth, reaching $45.6 billion in 2025, nearly double the $22.6 billion of the previous year. Total GMV for this platform (including Tokopedia) stood at about 65.7% of Shopee's scale, indicating the gap between the major platforms is quickly shrinking. Lazada also reported positive signs as it gradually increases market share in Singapore through a brand-focused strategy. Notably, content commerce (video, livestream, affiliate marketing) is increasingly playing a core role, accounting for about 32% of total GMV across the region. The three major platforms — Shopee, TikTok Shop, and Lazada — currently account for 98.8% of market size. "AI is emerging as a disruptive force changing the entire e-commerce ecosystem, from content production to how demand is created. The major platforms are leveraging traffic and user data to develop smart marketing tools," Momentum Works said. The gap between Shopee and TikTok Shop is narrowing significantly. In Vietnam, Shopee remains the number one with GMV over $11.8 billion, about 58% market share. TikTok Shop is second with nearly $8 billion, about 39%. The other two platforms, Lazada and Tiki, account for about 3%. Although rankings remain the same, the gap between Shopee and TikTok Shop has narrowed. If in 2024 the market share difference between the two platforms was 37 percentage points, by 2025 this figure was only 19 percentage points. This data aligns with YouNet ECI's report published in March 2025, which showed Shopee maintaining leadership with about 57.5% market share, revenue growth of 6%. However, the highlight is TikTok Shop with growth up to 93%, lifting market share from 26.9% to nearly 40%. On the operational side, Shopee says it is accelerating upgrades to its fast-delivery service. From May 11, the platform expanded 4-hour express delivery to sellers under Shopee Mall and Shopee Yêu Thích+ in Ho Chi Minh City. By the end of Q1 2026, more than 60% of products in this region already support fast delivery, with average order value more than 1.7 times higher than ordinary orders. Currently more than 60% of products from stores in Ho Chi Minh City have activated the 4-hour express delivery. According to Shopee, this expansion helps sellers reach urban customers who have a demand "need now – want fast", while also improving conversion rates, shortening order processing times, and boosting business efficiency. Momentum Works says the Southeast Asia e-commerce market size in 2025 reached $157.6 billion, up 22.8% from the previous year. Growth is driven mainly by Thailand and Malaysia, with increases of 51.8% and 47.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Singapore also posted gains above 20%. Indonesia remains the region's largest market (37%), but grew only 2.2%.
