Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) has been ranked 8th in Travel + Leisure’s list of the Top 9 summer festivals to experience globally. It is the only Vietnamese festival on the list, alongside major events from around the world.
Held since 2008, DIFF is not presented as a conventional fireworks festival. Instead, it is positioned as a large outdoor art stage where each show is described as a story told through light and music.
For each edition, the two banks of the Han River serve as the focal point, linking nature, the city, and modern performing-arts technology. The organizers say this approach creates a distinctive experience that helps DIFF stand out among summer festivals worldwide.
According to official announcements from the organizers, the 2026 DIFF theme is “Da Nang – United Horizons.” The 2026 event brings together leading fireworks teams from around the world, focusing not only on displays but also on a fusion of music, light, stage art, and cultural identity.
The festival is also described as a cultural exchange, with participating teams presenting “national identities” expressed through light.
The 2026 schedule includes:
Organizers say millions of domestic and international spectators are drawn to the festival along the Han River. The luminous nights are described as drawing visitors to Da Nang in search of “the most magical moments of the summer.”
Beyond the main shows, the festival atmosphere extends across Da Nang. During DIFF, accompanying activities—including art performances, street festivals, and entertainment—take place continuously on central streets and along the Han River.
Being listed among the Top 9 summer festivals worldwide is presented as evidence of Da Nang’s tourism strategy that links events with growth. DIFF is described as more than a single festival, as it gradually positions Da Nang as an international festival-and-events hub and strengthens its competitiveness on the global travel map.
