Information from the Da Nang People’s Committee delegation led by Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong said a meeting between city leaders and Tanjung Pelepas Port (PTP) in Malaysia on April 20, 2026 opened a new chapter in the development of logistics and trade for Da Nang and the Central region.
Tanjung Pelepas Port is located in Johor, Malaysia, and is among Southeast Asia’s largest container hubs. With a strategic location about 25 kilometers northwest of Singapore, PTP is positioned to support the development of the ASEAN trade corridor.
The Da Nang delegation had the opportunity to study how the modern, automated port model operates and how integrated logistics management is implemented.
At the working session, Nasution Saad Putra, Chief Executive Officer responsible for Government Relations and the Free Trade Zone at PTP, shared insights on the port’s formation and development. He also emphasized PTP’s willingness to share information and operational management experience with Da Nang.
The visit is described as an opportunity for Da Nang to learn and apply advanced models to Liên Chiểu Port, supporting economic and trade development in the region.
A highlight of the visit was the participation of Soren Kofoed Jensen, Head of Asia and Middle East Investment at APM Terminals (APMT Group). APMT, part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, is described as one of the world’s leading port and logistics operators.
In Malaysia, APMT currently operates Tanjung Pelepas Port and is one of two investors in the Da Nang Liên Chiểu port project. The collaboration is expected to bring new progress in developing the city’s logistics infrastructure.
During the working session, the delegation toured and surveyed Tanjung Pelepas Port. The parties shared experiences in operating and exploiting a modern, automated port model, logistics management, infrastructure, and comprehensive logistics support services.
Discussions also covered the customs organization model and the inter-agency coordination mechanism in detail, with the aim of identifying optimal solutions for Liên Chiểu Port.
