On the morning of 12 March, the working delegation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chính, together with Viettel and the Army–Telecommunications Industry Group, held a meeting with the Ministry of National Defence on the development of Vietnam’s defense industry.
Attending the meeting were Politburo members including Minister of National Defence, General Phan Văn Giang, and Secretary of the Central Committee and Chief of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army, General Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa. Also present were Minister of Foreign Affairs Lê Hoài Trung, along with leaders from central ministries and agencies.
During the session, the delegation heard reports from leaders of the Ministry of National Defence, the General Department of Defense Industry, and Viettel on the results of implementing defense industry development tasks for the 2021–2025 period.
The meeting noted that, under the leadership of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defence, the defense industry has achieved notable results. These include rapid progress and technology breakthroughs, with improvements across research, design, fabrication, production, and the modernization of weapons and equipment.
The outcomes were described as gradually affirming the national defense product brand “Made in Vietnam.”
On behalf of Party and State leadership, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chính praised and highly valued the achievements, saying they contribute to strengthening self-reliance and self-sufficiency and support the building of a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Army.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister urged the military to continue implementing defense industry development tasks effectively in line with the Party’s XIV Congress Resolution, relevant resolutions and directives of the Central Military Commission, and guidance from General Secretary Tô Lâm.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need to leverage internal strength and self-reliance and self-sufficiency as a strategic approach. He also called for proactive situational awareness, forecasting, and timely advice to the Party and State on military, national defense, and defense industry matters, while avoiding passivity or surprise in any scenario.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chính expressed confidence that the People’s Army will continue to uphold its glorious tradition, maintain unity and innovation, and successfully complete all assigned tasks in the new development phase, in keeping with the legacy of Uncle Hồ’s Army.
