On the morning of April 19, many Facebook users in Vietnam reported an unexpected display error for the posting time on the web interface. Instead of showing the actual hours since a post was made, the time field displayed a long string of unusual characters.
Users noted that the issue appears only on the web platform. When hovering over the affected area, the pop-up with expanded post details still shows the correct posting information. The mobile interface, by contrast, reportedly remains normal.
As of now, Facebook has not issued an official response regarding the incident, and there is no publicly available information on when the problem will be resolved.
The posting-time display error was reported by the Fanpage of Bao Dien tu VTC News on the morning of April 19.
This is not the first time Facebook has encountered a comparable error. The most recent occurrence mentioned in the article was in December 2024, when DownDetector—an outage-tracking service for many social networks and online services worldwide—showed errors affecting users globally, not only in Vietnam.
In practice, the platform frequently experiences operational errors. However, the article notes that management often addresses issues quietly rather than publicizing them widely. Facebook typically provides statements only in cases considered serious—such as incidents that disrupt the system on a broad scale or last for a long duration.
Examples of major Facebook incidents highlighted in the article include security breaches (privacy data leaks or statuses made public), global system failures (such as inability to log in or automatic logouts), and community policy violations (including the spread of misinformation or hate). These events can significantly disrupt user experience across a wide user base.
